Reports say President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team is looking to scrap the electric vehicle(EV) subsidy in the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act.

On Thursday, Reuters reported that two sources with knowledge of the matter made the disclosure on condition of anonymity.

If true, experts say the policy change could adversely impact South Korea’s EV and battery companies, which have built factories in the U.S. in addition to making other investments.

The legislation provides a tax credit of up to seven-thousand-500 U.S. dollars per EV if the vehicles are manufactured in the U.S. and meet other criteria.

Trump expressed his opposition to the tax credit during his election campaign.
