The main opposition Democratic Party(DP) staged a rally in Seoul on Saturday, calling for a special counsel probe into allegations surrounding First Lady Kim Keon-hee.
The DP ramped up pressure on the ruling camp to accept the special probe bill during the rally near Seoul's Gwanghwamun area starting at 4:30 p.m., with its chief Lee Jae-myung in attendance.
This is the third outdoor rally calling for the special investigation into the first lady.
The main opposition, along with four minor opposition parties, are set to join a march organized by a liberal civic group starting later in the evening.
In a statement, ruling People Power Party(PPP) spokesperson Kim Hye-ran said DP lawmakers have effectively denied Friday's court conviction of the DP leader for violating the election law.
She then accused the main opposition of declaring to continue the protest aimed at intimidating judges presiding over Lee's ongoing corruption trials.
