Chey Tae-won, the head of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KCCI), assumed chairmanship of next year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) CEO Summit to be hosted by the southeastern city of Gyeongju.

Chey took over the chairmanship on Saturday from this year's APEC CEO Summit Chair and Intercorp CEO, Fernando Zavala, in Lima, Peru.
 
Chey said next year's summit theme will be "Bridge, Business, Beyond," with businesses bridging the gap between the government, reality and the ideal, and as the main agent of innovative growth, moving toward prosperity beyond the current realm of APEC.

The KCCI pledged to ensure that the 2025 summit serves as a platform for businesses in tackling the humanity's shared challenges.

Under the theme of "People, Business, Prosperity," the 2024 APEC CEO Summit opened discussions on climate change, artificial intelligence, digital health, and financial inclusion.
