President Yoon Suk Yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba have expressed "strong concerns" over military cooperation between North Korea and Russia during summit talks in Peru.
The two leaders held their second talks on Saturday on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Lima.
During the 50-minute talks at a hotel in the Peruvian capital city, Yoon and Ishiba agreed to closely cooperate to ensure the international community continues to send a unified message regarding North Korea.
Reaffirming the growing importance of bilateral cooperation amid rapid changes in the regional and global situation, the two leaders agreed to elevate their bilateral relationship as the two nations mark the 60th anniversary of the normalization of their diplomatic relations next year.
To that end, the two sides decided to continue shuttle diplomacy without being restricted by its format.
The top office said that the two leaders also agreed to continue to develop the trilateral cooperation between South Korea, the United States and Japan after the launch of the new U.S. administration.
