President Yoon Suk Yeol and Vietnam's new President Luong Cuong have agreed to expand cooperation in supply chains for key minerals during their summit talks in Peru.

Yoon held the bilateral talks on Saturday on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Lima.

Yoon called for joint efforts to further develop bilateral relations, saying that the South Korea-Vietnam relationship is an exemplary case in terms of the speed of development and the breadth of cooperation, which are unprecedented.

Yoon expressed hope that the two nations will continue to strengthen cooperation to expand bilateral investments and that South Korea will continue to participate in Vietnam's infrastructure projects for "mutually beneficial cooperation."

In response, Cuong also expressed hope for continued high-level communication to further strengthen the relationship, describing the bilateral ties as "very special and important."
