Cold wave advisories were issued for parts of the nation Monday morning, with temperatures plunging more than ten degrees Celsius from the previous day.
Seoul witnessed the first subzero temperatures this fall, with the morning low dipping to minus zero-point-one degree on Monday.
Temperatures slipped about 14 degrees from the previous day to minus five-point-three degrees in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province; minus four-point-five in Paju, Gyeonggi Province; and minus three-point-nine degrees in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province.
Strong winds are also hitting parts of the nation, with strong wind advisories issued for the southern and western coastal areas and Jeju Island.
Afternoon highs are expected to stay below ten degrees Celsius in parts of the nation, with seven degrees forecast for Seoul, eight for Jeonju, and nine for Gwangju and Daegu.
The cold will gradually ease starting in the middle of the week.
