Ruling People Power Party Chair Han Dong-hoon says his party will set up a task force to thoroughly monitor the trials of main opposition Democratic Party Chair Lee Jae-myung and to prevent court rulings from being distorted.

Han made the remark on Monday during a meeting of the party’s Supreme Council, saying both the second and third hearings must come to a verdict within three months in accordance with the Public Official Election Act.

The party chair stressed the need to demonstrate that the law is being upheld in Lee’s trials as the entire nation is closely watching the hearings.

He also underlined that his party will sternly and strongly respond to any attempts by the Democratic Party to intimidate judges handling Lee’s cases.

The envisioned task force is set to launch Wednesday and immediately begin its duties, including alerting the public in a timely manner about any unfair delays in Lee’s trials.
