Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s delegation of special envoys is set to visit South Korea once President Yoon Suk Yeol returns home from his South American trip.
Ukrainian Ambassador to South Korea Dmytro Ponomarenko revealed the information to reporters during an event he hosted in Seoul to mark the one-thousandth day since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The ambassador said though it’s up to the South Korean government to propose the most appropriate schedule and make related announcements, the special envoys will certainly visit after Yoon returns from the G-20 summit.
The envisioned delegation, to be led by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, is expected to discuss with South Korean government officials developments concerning North Korean troops deployed in the war and whether Seoul will send a monitoring group to Ukraine.
Asked if the delegation will officially ask the South Korean government for arms support, Ponomarenko said patience is needed as he stressed that both South Korea and Ukraine currently are at a crucial stage.
