The ruling People Power Party(PPP) will request a live broadcast when the court rules in main opposition Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung’s subornation of perjury trial.

The request is set to be submitted to the Seoul Central District Court on Wednesday afternoon by the PPP’s Legal Advisory Committee chair, Joo Jin-woo, and its deputy chair, Kwon Oh-hyun.

Joo said the ruling party is seeking the broadcast Monday in response to increased public interest after Lee’s conviction last week for violating the election law.

The committee chair said the live broadcast would have a positive impact on judicial justice, especially after the main opposition refused to recognize last week’s court ruling.

The court did not grant the PPP’s request for live coverage of Lee’s trial on Friday, after a comprehensive review of legal matters.
