Samsung Electronics has reportedly been ordered to pay 118 million dollars to United States computer memory company Netlist in a patent lawsuit.

According to Reuters on Friday, a federal jury in Marshall, Texas, issued the verdict in the lawsuit over technology for improving data processing in high-performance memory chips.

The jury reportedly determined that Samsung's infringement was willful, which could lead to a judge increasing the award by up to three times.

California-based Netlist filed the suit in 2022, claiming that Samsung's memory modules used in cloud computing servers and other data-intensive technology infringed on its patents.

The verdict follows a 303 million-dollar verdict against Samsung for Netlist in a related case last year.

Netlist also won 445 million dollars from chipmaker Micron in May in a separate lawsuit over some of the same patents.
