Snow blanketed the capital region for a second day on Thursday, with more than 40 centimeters of snow recorded in some areas.

As of 8 a.m. Thursday, authorities measured 28-point-six centimeters of snow at the Seoul Meteorological Observatory in Jongno, the official weather observation point.

It marks the third-heaviest figure from the same location in central Seoul, which measured 31 centimeters of snow on March 24, 1922, and 30 centimeters on January 31, 1969.

Other parts of the capital region had more than 40 centimeters of snow as of 8 a.m.

In Gyeonggi Province, the city of Yongin received 47-point-five centimeters and Suwon got 43 centimeters, while Seoul’s Gwanak District saw 41-point-two centimeters.

Suwon’s snowfall is the city’s heaviest since modern meteorological observations began in October 1964.
