Cold Snap Hits Nation after Record Snowfalls

A cold snap has gripped the nation after record snowfalls in the central region. 

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, most of the central region saw freezing temperatures Friday morning, with the mercury slipping to minus ten degrees Celsius in the inland areas of Gangwon Province.

The cold snap is expected to continue into the weekend. 

Snow or rain will likely hit parts of the nation again beginning Friday afternoon, with two to seven centimeters of snow expected in the eastern parts of North Jeolla Province and one to five centimeters in the inland parts of Gangwon Province and southern Gyeonggi Province. 

Seoul is forecast to see one to three centimeters of snow on Friday, while the mountainous areas of Jeju Island can expect up to ten centimeters by early Saturday. 

Afternoon highs on Friday are predicted to range between three and 12 degrees Celsius, with a high of five degrees in Seoul.
