The South Korean military has confirmed that North Korea sent some 40 trash balloons over the South Korean border between Thursday night and early Friday, with around 30 fallen objects found in the capital region. 

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff(JCS) said Friday that the balloons carried waste and anti-South Korea propaganda leaflets, and an analysis has shown that there were no hazardous materials.

The JCS said no additional trash balloons were observed in the sky as of Friday morning.

The latest launch came ten days after the previous one. 

Since May 28, the North has launched thousands of balloons on 32 occasions, with bags of trash attached to each one.
