Chinese Account for 55.5% of Homes Owned by Foreigners in S. Korea

Government data shows that Chinese homeownership in South Korea is steadily increasing, with Chinese nationals accounting for more than half of all housing units owned by foreigners in the country.

According to the data from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on Friday, foreigners owned some 95-thousand homes in the country as of the end of June, up about 36-hundred homes or three-point-nine percent from six months ago. 

Foreign-owned homes accounted for zero-point-49 percent of all dwellings in the country. 

Chinese nationals owned nearly 52-thousand-800 homes, or 55-point-five percent, while the corresponding figure for Americans stood at about 21-thousand and for Canadians it was 62-hundred. 

The percentage of homes owned by Chinese nationals increased by four-point-nine percent from six months ago.

Over 72 percent of homes owned by foreigners were located in the capital region.
