North Korea has reportedly provided 100 artillery systems to Russia, including its powerful M1991 multiple launch rocket systems.

The U.S. business magazine Forbes issued the report Saturday, citing Andriy Kovalenko, the head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation.

Kovalenko said North Korea has provided 100 artillery systems to Russia, including M1989 self-propelled howitzers and M1991 rocket launchers.

M1991s are capable of striking targets up to 60 kilometers away and firing 240-millimeter rockets weighing 85 kilograms, while M1989s can fire 170-millimeter shells weighing 45 kilograms as far as 40 kilometers.

The Russian military reportedly had more than a thousand wheeled rocket launchers when it invaded Ukraine in February 2022, but Forbes says its arsenal has suffered significant losses as the war drags on.

Under the circumstances, the multiple launch rocket systems supplied by North Korea are believed to play a significant role in making up for the Russian military’s losses.
