South Korea's foreign ministry says two Korean tourists were detained and later freed in northern India by a group of villagers in the area.
The ministry said Friday the two unidentified Korean tourists were seized Thursday along with 35 other foreigners in apparent protests to its government over the kidnapping of three Indian workers in Iraq.
The local police said the freed tourists had departed for New Delhi.
The Associated Press reported angry villagers detained foreign tourists, mostly Britons, to urge the Indian government to do more to rescue its nationals abducted in the Gulf state.
