President Yoon Suk Yeol is set to deliver a public address at 10 a.m. Saturday, ahead of a vote in the National Assembly later in the day on a motion to impeach him.

In announcing the plan, the presidential office said Yoon will explain his position regarding the state of martial law he declared late Tuesday night.

On Friday, the president met with the leadership of the ruling People Power Party to discuss the fallout from the martial law decree, which he rescinded in the wee hours of Wednesday some six hours after issuing it.
