The main opposition Democratic Party(DP) will file a complaint against Prime Minister Han Duck-soo with the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials(CIO), accusing him of treason in connection with last week’s martial law declaration.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, DP chief spokesperson Jo Seoung-lae said the main opposition is expected to immediately file the complaint to hold the prime minister to account.
The spokesperson said his party is also preparing a motion to seek Han’s impeachment, and that it intends to review the timing of its submission.
The DP earlier decided to include the prime minister in a separate motion seeking a special counsel investigation into the martial law case.
Another DP spokesperson, Hwang Jung-a, told reporters that Han will be one of the main subjects of the special investigation bill, which the main opposition is pushing to put to a vote at a plenary session on Saturday.
