U.S. Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry has pledged to drastically reduce U.S. troop presence around the world if he wins the November election.

Kerry made the remarks Sunday while appearing at ABC television's "This Week" program.

He said that if the diplomacy that he believes can be put in place can work, he thinks Washington can significantly change the deployment of troops not just in Iraq but elsewhere in the world, possibly in the Korean Peninsula and in Europe.
