The police have raided the presidential office as part of their martial law investigation.
According to the Korean National Police Agency(KNPA)’s special investigation team, a total of 18 investigators were dispatched to the top office on Wednesday to secure records related to the emergency Cabinet meeting held while the country was under martial law last week.
The suspect named in the search warrant is President Yoon Suk Yeol, and the targets of the search include the presidential office, the Cabinet meeting room and the National Security Office.
The police also raided relevant offices at the Korean National Police Agency, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency(SMPA) and the National Assembly Police Guards to gather information about what role the police played in controlling access to the National Assembly during martial law.
The chief of the KNPA and the head of the SMPA were arrested without warrants earlier on Wednesday.
