South Korea wants China to correct perceived distortion of history.

The Foreign Ministry in Seoul said it has demanded that the Chinese Foreign Ministry restore descriptions of the ancient Goguryeo dynasty on its official Website.

In April, China& 039 s Foreign Ministry deleted a section of its Website containing information on the Goguryeo kingdom, provoking protests from the Seoul government.

The Goguryeo Kingdom ruled northern parts of Korean Peninsula and much of Manchuria for about seven centuries before falling in the late seventh century.

Seoul holds the ancient kingdom is a distinct part of South Korean history. But China claims that the kingdom was the territory of one of its provincial governments.
