Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok sought cooperation from the business community toward minimizing uncertainties following the National Assembly's impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol for his declaration of martial law on December 3.
Choi made the call on Monday, during a meeting with the Korea Federation of SMEs, the Korea Enterprises Federation, the Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Korean Industries and the Korea International Trade Association.
The minister said the government intends to swiftly handle tasks at hand, such as prioritizing thorough management of international credit standing and actively responding to uncertainties in trade environment.
He also mentioned stabilizing the livelihood economy and enforcing policies designed to prepare the future of domestic industries.
The minister asked heads of the business groups to actively exercise their leadership in order to prevent weakening of corporate activities, and to normally proceed with investment, export and employment as planned.
The business groups, for their part, called for minimization of the administrative vacuum and maintenance of security and continuity in state policies.
