North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reportedly visited a mausoleum to pay tribute to his late father, Kim Jong-il, on the 13th anniversary of his death.

According to the North’s state Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) on Wednesday, Kim Jong-il made the visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun the previous day.

The palace is where the bodies of Kim Jong-il and state founder Kim Il-sung, the current leader’s grandfather, lie in state.

The KCNA said a floral basket was laid before the statues of Kim Jong-un’s father and grandfather in the current leader’s name.

Kim Jong-un was reportedly accompanied by senior party and government officials, including his sister Kim Yo-jong, premier Kim Tok-hun and party secretary Jo Yong-won.

Kim Jong-il died on December 17, 2011, and Kim Jong-un has visited the mausoleum every year around the anniversary of his father’s death, except in 2022.
