The government plans to focus on communicating with foreign businesses and ambassadors from major economies amid concerns that the short-lived December 3 martial law declaration could adversely affect the influx of overseas tourists and investment.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Policy Coordination Minister Bang Ki-sun said the utmost priority would be to help ease fear among foreign visitors and restore confidence from overseas businesses making investments in the country.

Meeting with foreign correspondents in Seoul, Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul said that they have highlighted the fact that the economy remains strong and state administration is operating normally.

Acknowledging the current public sentiment and that the nation currently faces a difficult situation, the ministers then pledged best efforts to vitalize the economy ahead of the New Year's holiday.
