Acting President Han Duck-soo says the government is making every effort to ensure there are no gaps in security by maintaining a watertight readiness posture based on the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

Han made the remarks Friday during a meeting of senior government and ruling party officials at the official residence of the prime minister in Seoul.

He said the government will establish trust with the United States, Japan and many other allies, mentioning his recent phone calls with U.S. President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.

The acting president also said the government will do its utmost to manage state affairs reliably in cooperation with the ruling party, vowing to cooperate and communicate with the National Assembly more actively to promptly stabilize state affairs.

The meeting of senior officials from the government and the ruling party, the first of its kind in about three months, focused on economic conditions at home and abroad and measures to assist small businesses and self-employed people.
