The average prices of gasoline and diesel both increased for the tenth consecutive week.

According to the Korea National Oil Corporation’s price information system, Opinet, on Saturday, the average price of gasoline rose seven won on-week to one-thousand-653-point-two won per liter, or one U.S. dollar and 14 cents, in the third week of December

The average price of diesel rose eight-point-three won to one-thousand-497-point-five won per liter. Earlier in the week, on Thursday, the average price of diesel had surpassed 15-hundred won for the first time in three months.

International oil prices increased this week due to a drop in oil reserves in the U.S. and strengthened Western sanctions against Russia.

As changes in international oil prices are usually reflected in domestic gas prices after about two to three weeks, an official at the KNOC said the price increase is expected to continue for some time.
