The Constitutional Court has deemed that an impeachment trial notice and other documents it sent to President Yoon Suk Yeol have been "delivered."
The court’s Deputy Director General for Public Information Office Chun Jae-hyun revealed the court’s decision during a briefing in Seoul on Monday, following repeated returns of court request documents by Yoon and his staff.
The Constitutional Court sent various impeachment documents to Yoon’s official residence last Thursday.
The documents, including one informing Yoon of the court's receipt of the National Assembly's impeachment motion against him, arrived at the presidential residence on Friday, but the Presidential Security Service refused to accept them.
The court decided to consider the documents as having been delivered to Yoon the moment they reached the presidential residence.
The court has asked Yoon to give a response to its requests within seven days of delivery, meaning the president has until this Friday to submit his answers, though he is not obligated to do so.
With the latest decision, the court will push forward its plan to hold a pre-trial conference for Yoon's impeachment case on Friday, as scheduled.
