Large-scale rallies organized by groups both supporting and opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol will take place in downtown Seoul this Saturday.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on Friday that it expects heavy traffic congestion in the downtown area due to the rallies and marches involving tens of thousands of people.
To minimize public inconvenience caused by traffic congestion, the police plan to open extra lanes for vehicles during the rallies and marches and deploy around 160 traffic officers in the affected areas.
A police official urged citizens to use public transportation, such as subways, as much as possible and check traffic information in advance before driving.
For more detailed traffic information, citizens can refer to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's traffic information hotline at 02-700-5000, its website at www.spatic.go.kr, or via KakaoTalk.
