Industrial Output Falls in November for Third Consecutive Month

The country’s industrial output decreased for the third consecutive month in November as auto industry strikes disrupted production. 

According to Statistics Korea on Monday, the index for the nation’s overall industrial production dropped zero-point-four percent from the previous month to 112-point-six in November.
 
Production in the mining and manufacturing industries decreased zero-point-seven percent on-month in November, with a three-point-nine percent increase in chip production offset by a five-point-four percent fall in automobile production.

Output in the service industry fell by zero-point-two percent.

But retail sales, a key indicator of consumption levels, increased zero-point-four percent on-month in November, even as facility investment slipped one-point-six percent.
