Police summoned Prime Minister Han Duck-soo for the second time regarding his attendance at Cabinet meetings that preceded and followed the December 3 martial law declaration.
According to an official from the special investigation team led by the National Office of Investigation(NOI) under the police agency on Monday, the summons is expected to have been sent to the prime minister earlier in the day.
While the exact date for the summons was not released, Han is neither subject to a travel ban nor did he voluntarily submit his mobile phone.
The prime minister earlier appeared for the team's initial summons for questioning behind closed doors as a suspect.
While the Prime Minister's Office previously claimed that Han first learned of the planned martial law decree from President Yoon Suk Yeol at his office at around 9 p.m. on December 3, the police intend to verify the exact point in time.
Meanwhile, a local civic group filed complaints against Acting President Choi Sang-mok, Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung, and Park Se-hyun, head of the prosecution's martial law probe team, for alleged participation in plotting rebellion, aid and abetting in execution, power abuse and breach of duty.
