The National Intelligence Service has confirmed the existence of an Islamist terrorist group specifically targeting South Korean nationals.

Representative Woo Won-shik of the ruling Uri Party said that a ranking official at the spy agency disclosed the existence of the group, called "Lions of God," during a closed-door parliamentary committee meeting on Tuesday.

The intelligence official was quoted as saying that the armed group has established a special unit in charge of preparing terrorist attacks against South Koreans.
