South Korea's total exports hit a new record of 683-point-eight billion U.S. dollars in 2024.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 2024 trade report released Wednesday, last year’s exports jumped eight-point-two percent on year and surpassed the previous high of 683-point-six billion dollars of 2022.
The country's imports stood at 632 billion dollars in 2024, a one-point-six percent decline on-year, putting the trade surplus at 51-point-eight billion dollars.
Leading the record export figures were the country's semiconductor shipments, surging by 43-point-nine percent on year to 141-point-nine billion dollars, also setting a fresh record.
In December, exports also rose by six-point-six percent compared to the previous year, tallying 61-point-38 billion dollars, also marking the highest December export figure on record.
The monthly trade balance remained in the black for 19 straight months since June 2023.
