U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell says progress has been made in North Korea's nuclear impasse through diplomacy and political action.

Speaking to a convention of minority journalists in Washington Thursday, Powell stressed that the policy the U.S. is using to deal with North Korea and Iran is essentially one based on diplomacy and political action.

But he firmly asserted Washington would never remove the military option from the table.
