Asian Americans have been found to have the highest incomes, highest levels of education and best job performance among foreign-born U.S. residents.
That's according to a report by the U.S. Census Bureau released Thursday. The report estimated the foreign-born population in the United States last year at the 33.5 million or 12 percent of the total U.S. population.
Asians took up about a quarter of the total foreign-born population in the United States.
The report also says half the Asian immigrants have a college degree, compared to 35.4 percent for those born in Europe and 11.5 percent for U.S. residents born in South America.
By profession, those working in managerial or professional positions among Asian immigrants stood at 47 percent, followed by 41.3 percent for European and 12.7 percent for South American counterparts.
About 54 percent of the Asian immigrant population also reported annual incomes of over 50,000 dollars, versus 42.7 percent for Europeans and 29 percent for South Americans.
