S.Korean Olympic Squad Arrives in Athens

The first group of South Korean Olympic team arrived in Athens Friday.

The group comprising 148 athletes and 27 sports officials is the main contingent of South Korea's 376-member Olympic delegation.

The second group of athletes is scheduled to fly into Athens next Wednesday, two days before the opening ceremony on August 13th. Remaining athletes are scheduled to arrive by August 25th, according to competition schedules.

South Korea aims to finish in the top ten in the final rankings with 13 gold, ten silver and 13 bronze medals. South Korea finished eighth in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, but fell behind at 12th at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

South and North Korean athletes are to march hand-in-hand during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Athens Olympics.
