Kurdish Militia Guards S.Korean Residents in Iraq

The Defense Ministry said Kurdish militia forces of some 60 members are providing protection for about 40 South Korean residents in the Northern Iraqi region of Irbil, where the additional contingent of Korean troops are stationed.
The militia unit called 'Peshmerga' known for their combat power, has been fighting against the Saddam Hussein regime for decades to achieve independence of the Kurdish people.
