Int'l Forum of Translators to Launch in Seoul

The inauguration of a global forum of translators is set to take place in Seoul from Thursday to Saturday, with participants from 27 nations including the U.S., Britain, China, Egypt and Switzerland.
The International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies or simply, IATIS will hold the launching ceremony and its first general assembly at Sookmyung Women's University in downtown Seoul.
Professor Annie Brisset of the University of Ottawa in Canada is the chairman and Professor Kwak Seong-hi at Sookmyung will serve as the director of general affairs and finances of the Association for the next four years, during which the head office will be stationed in Seoul.
The first conference of the global scholarly gathering will discuss various issues regarding translation in the 21st century, attended by some 300 luminaries.
