In Japan, the Tokyo National Museum has removed a signboard introducing what Koreans scholars assert are Korean relics as being Chinese.

A rubbing of inscriptions from a monument to King Gwanggaeto, on exhibition in the Tokyo museum since last week, has been introduced to the Japanese public as a part of China& 039 s heritage.

The museum acknowledged the mistake after the Korean Cultural Center in Tokyo pressed the Japanese government to redress the issue. The museum said it had also removed a section on its Internet Website attributing Chinese heritage to the Goguryeo relic.

The museum will display some 31 Goguryeo relics until October to celebrate the inclusion of the King Gwanggaeto monument and tombs from the Goguryeo kingdom onto the UNESCO World Heritage list in June.
