Seventy-seven South Korean products in 2002 were found to own the largest global market share in their specific market niche.

According to a report by the Korea International Trade Association, 2002 saw the addition of five more domestically-made products to the list of global bestsellers in respective markets, compared to the year before.

The report, citing U.N. statistics, said that of the 77, textile and clothing products held the largest portion with 31 items.

Korean-made cathode ray poles dominated almost 83 percent of the total world market while domestic tankers accounted for some 47 percent of the total share.

The report also said five export items - semiconductors, automobiles, mobile phones and other wireless telecommunication devices, computers and ships - chalked up 43 percent of the country's total export last year.

The U.S. topped the list with 884 best-selling commodities, followed by Germany with 808 and China with 787. South Korea ranked 13th, its same finish as last year's ranking.
