Defense Minister Yoon Kwang-woong says that he will pursue persistent and steady reforms of the military to build up a strong national defense system.

Speaking to a meeting of top military brass Wednesday, Yoon vowed to transform the conventional force structure into a technology-based defense system to better handle the rapidly changing security situation both at home and abroad.

The Minister said he would push to expand civilian control over the Defense Ministry and would rationally allocate defense resources such as manpower, equipment and budget for a balanced development of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force.
