President Roh Moo-hyun's science and information advisor Park Ki-young says the government is actively monitoring around six scientific research teams and plans to expand special support for them, if necessary.

Park cited professor Hwang Woo-suk's team at Seoul National University as one of the research teams currently being monitored by the government in light of its international recognition for embryonic stem cell research and bright prospects for further development.

Park said the government is keeping a close watch on outstanding researches and that it will seek specific support measures after consulting with relevant ministries.
