The Ministry of Science and Technology says it has established a special committee to oversee and coordinate policies on science, technology and innovation.

The ministry said Thursday that the special committee on national technological innovation is expected to assume an active role in the formulation, coordination and evaluation of science and technology-related policies in a bid to strengthen competitiveness in related areas.

The committee will be chaired by the Minister of Science and Technology and will comprise some 20 members, including the ministers of finance, education, culture and tourism, commerce, industry and energy as well as information and communication.

The special committee will also include private experts, including college professors and directors of science and technology institutes.
