Ukraine has agreed to accept the Trump administration’s proposal for a 30-day interim ceasefire with Russia following talks in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

The United States and Ukraine announced the agreement in a joint statement after nine hours of negotiations in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

In the statement, Ukraine expressed readiness to accept the U.S. proposal to enact an immediate 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement and which is subject to acceptance and concurrent implementation by Russia.

The statement said the U.S. will immediately lift the pause on intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine.

The statement added that the U.S. will communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is the key to achieving peace.
