A recent poll shows North Korean students who have defected to the South are more interested in unification and find a greater need for it than their Southern peers.

The poll, conducted by the Korean Broadcasting System, shows that 37.4 percent of South Korean students said they were not interested in unification, while only 4.9 percent of defected North Koreans showed disinterest in the subject.

Eleven percent of South Korean students said they did not see a need for unification while northern students in the survey were unanimous in viewing unification as a crucial task.
