Kyodo news: Impoverished Pyongyang Declines UN Aid from Next Yr.

Japan's Kyodo news agency reported Saturday the impoverished North Korea had told the United Nations it will not receive humanitarian aid from the world body from next year, but did not give any reason.
The report came a day after Washington urged Pyongyang to respond to its June proposal for dismantling the communist state's suspected nuclear arms programme.
During the third round of nuclear talks last month, Pyongyang dismissed the US proposal that would give the North multilateral energy aid after the stalinist state vows to scrap its nuclear program and starts a verifiable disarmament process.
The Kyodo report also comes a week after North Korea said torrential rain damaged crops and homes across the country.
North Korea depends on foreign aid to feed a quarter of its 22.5 million people, while the famine has forced many of them to seek refuge in neighbouring China.
