Ruling and opposition party lawmakers are in China to seek ways to resolve the dispute over China's alleged attempts to distort early Korean history.
Members of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Education left for China on Monday for a four-day trip, during which they'll tour relics of the ancient Korean kingdom of Goguryeo in China's northeastern region.
The Education Committee legislators plan to come up with comprehensive measures to address the Goguryeo dispute after first determining the exact nature of China's claims to the ancient kingdom.
Meanwhile, another group of some ten lawmakers also left for China Monday. During their five-day stay, the group will inspect Goguryeo remains that are currently closed to the public and hold talks with local historians on Beijing's recent moves to assimilate the ancient kingdom into Chinese history.
