A squadron of U.S. Air Force fighter jets will arrive in South Korea next month for a temporary deployment here.

A U.S. military spokesman said Monday the F-15E Strike Eagles will fly to South Korea from the Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska to take part in military training.

He said the two-seat fighters will be deployed in a U.S. air base south of Seoul for two to four months, but declined to disclose the exact number of jets to be deployed.

In late June, the U.S. military deployed a squadron of F-117A stealth fighters to its air base in Gunsan, about 270 kilometers southwest of Seoul, to engage in similar exercises. The spokesman said the radar-evading fighters, dubbed Nighthawks, are still in South Korea.
