South Korea posted a current account surplus in February for the 22nd consecutive month.

According to preliminary data from the Bank of Korea on Tuesday, the surplus stood at seven-point-18 billion dollars for the month.

The country has reported a current account surplus every month since May 2023, maintaining the trend for the third-longest stretch of time since 2000.

The goods account recorded a surplus of eight-point-18 billion dollars in February, a sharp increase from the two-point-five billion dollar surplus logged the previous month, which had fewer working days due to the Lunar New Year holiday.

Exports increased three-point-six percent on-year to 53-point-seven billion dollars in February, while imports gained one-point-three percent on-year to 45-point-six billion dollars.
