South Korea has provided around 220 million won worth of support for North Korean athletes participating in the Athens Olympics.

The Unification Ministry said the assistance includes some 70 million won worth of uniforms and running shoes for North Korean Olympians and officials.

The assistance also includes a 150 million won sum the South Korean Broadcasting Commission spent for relaying Olympic broadcasts for North Korea.

Officials say the financial support will be covered by inter-Korean cooperation funds.
