Two British filmmakers say they have interviewed a man believed to be the last American defector still living in North Korea
Documentary filmmaker Nicholas Bonner and his colleague Daniel Gordon, said Monday they met James Dresnok, a former U.S. Army private, in May while making a documentary in the North.
According to Bonner, Dresnok crossed the inter-Korean border into the Stalinist state in 1962 and now lives in Pyongyang. Bonner quoted him as saying that he likes his "simple life in the communist state" and has no plans to return home.
The film crew also interviewed Charles Jenkins, an accused U.S. army deserter who has since left North Korea for Japan, where he was reunited with his Japanese wife.
Bonner and Gordon have previously made two films in North Korea in association with the BBC and with cooperation from Pyongyang.
